A Terrible Anniversary

Anniversaries are great to celebrate. But every year at this time, I mourn one particular anniversary. Tomorrow is the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade. On January 22, 1973 the Supreme Court, in a 7-2 decision, voted for a woman's rights to have an abortion. It was ruling against a law in Texas that only allowed a woman to have an abortion if her life was at risk.

Here is a graphic that puts abortion in perspective:

  1. Amen to this David!! Thank you for bringing this to the forefront of our minds. Those statistics are telling and often not shared in clarity. I have always been extremely passionate about this subject.25 years ago I had tickets for a bus trip from Henrietta to the anniversary march in Washington.I was beyond excited, and willing to be arrested if necessary.
That morning at the restaurant I was working, the pilot housing on the stack ovens malfunctioned and I was burned badly. While in the burn unit I questioned God why that day, as my need I thought was to go to that march. Clearly he had other plans. Although I did not get to go physically that day, I needed to keep those statistics, the babies behind them, and the actual battle itself continued in my heart and prayers daily. For me to ignore it completely and do nothing convicted me greatly and personally felt sinful. I applaud your stance on this matter, and NorthRidge’s involvement in such great ministries that help address the real needs to counter these numbers, and the people’s heart’s behind them.
