We are so excited to have Mike Weston officially join our staff as the Director of Connections for the Irondequoit Campus. Mike interned for us from mid-2012 to mid-2013; this past year he worked part-time, and now we are asking him to work full-time for us for one year.
Over the past ten years we've had many interns and twice we've had two "1-year contract" employees. Toby Locke was our first intern that we asked to stay for another year. Following that year he moved to Wisconsin and serves there as a pastor. Jason DeGraaff was an intern and did two one-year contracts following his internship. After that, we hired him full-time.
Mike did a great job as an intern and working for us part-time this past year. Most recently he has been working at Starbucks. He began with us on June 1.
He will be fulfilling three primary roles:
- Director of Connections (Irondequoit Campus) – Josh Horn will move into the position of Director of Outreach
- EQUIP website – we are working hard on launching a website for spiritual growth
- 16:5 Director – Mike directed in 2012
Here is a chance to get to know Mike better:
In a sentence or two, what does your job look like at Northridge?

What is one thing about you people would be surprised to learn?
I'm an Eagle Scout from my days with the Boy Scouts of America…but I still can only tie a square knot.
What’s your favorite thing about Northridge?
It's the first church I've attended in which I can bring anyone with me as a guest without fearing their embarrassment of Christianity.

A mutual friend introduced me to Michelle during the interviewing process at the Christian School where I would eventually coach.
