How Much Porn Do Kids Watch?

Christianity Today published an interesting article about when most Americans are exposed to pornography and even that more than half of those 10-17 year olds who'd viewed it said that "the exposure was unwanted."' You can find the original HERE or I've included the excerpt below:

How Much Porn Do Kids Watch?

The short answer? No one really knows, but a lot.

A recent Daily Beast article referenced today's "infinite swamp of pornographic availability" for kids and teens. The slough includes more than just "budget" productions—socially shared snapshots make sexually explicit material personal.

Here are a few takeaways from available research:

  • 90 percent of all pornography comes from the Internet.
  • Most boys seek out porn by age 10.
  • 42 percent of Internet users between 10-17 said that they'd viewed porn on the web in the past 12 months.
  • 66 percent of those 10-17 year olds who'd viewed it said that "the exposure was unwanted."

What are concerned parents and pastors to do? I suppose there are a lot of answers, but one thing is for sure – don't let your children walk this difficult path alone.

I was fortunate – I didn't have to navigate internet porn growing up. I can't imagine the battle many teens (and adults) fight today.
